Some history (Irish and American) and some “Lunney” music:

Here’s a great little music video of the Irish ballad "By Memory Inspired" performed by Frank Harte (vocal) and Donal Lunney (instrumental):

This song commemorates Irish Protestants from the Belfast area and Catholics from Wexford
who rose up in rebellion against British rule of Ireland in 1798.
Some of these Irish men had fought in the British forces during the American Revolution
and were much influenced by both American and French Revolutions.
40,000 people were killed in these uprisings
which ended with Robert Emmet (a Protestant) becoming the last person
to be hung, drawn and quartered in the UK & Ireland.
